Roamer is a Swiss watch brand that was founded in 1888 by Fritz Meyer in Solothurn, Switzerland. The company initially produced pocket watches, but later expanded into wristwatches. Roamer gained popularity in the early 1900s for its high-quality timepieces and precision movements. The brand became known for its innovative designs, including some of the earliest wristwatches with water-resistant cases. In the 1920s, Roamer introduced the "Stahl-Erfindung," or steel invention, which used a special alloy to make watch movements that were more durable and precise than those of its competitors. This innovation helped the brand to become one of the leading watchmakers in Switzerland. During World War II, Roamer produced watches for the British military and gained a reputation for their reliability and accuracy. After the war, the company continued to produce high-quality watches with Swiss-made movements. In the 1960s and 70s, Roamer introduced several popular watch models, including the Stingray, Mustang, and Rockshell. These watches featured distinctive designs and were popular among both men and women.
