Nivada is a Swiss watch brand that was founded in 1879 in the town of Grenchen, Switzerland. Originally known as "Grana," the company changed its name to "Nivada" in 1926.

Throughout the 20th century, Nivada produced a wide range of high-quality wristwatches, including chronographs, dive watches, and dress watches. In the 1940s and 1950s, Nivada watches were especially popular in the United States, where they were sold under the brand name "Croton." Nivada was also one of the first companies to introduce a dive watch with a rotating bezel, which is now a common feature on many dive watches.

One of Nivada's most famous models is the Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver, which was introduced in the early 1960s. This watch was designed to be a versatile timepiece that could be worn by pilots, sailors, and divers alike. It featured a robust stainless steel case, a rotating bezel, and a chronograph function. The Chronomaster Aviator Sea Diver became a popular choice among military personnel and was even worn by astronauts on the Gemini 4 and Gemini 5 missions.

Nivada continued to produce watches throughout the latter half of the 20th century, but the brand experienced financial difficulties in the 1990s and was eventually sold to a group of investors.
