Omega Seamaster, Ref. 14390-1, Cal. 285, Men’s Manual Wind Vintage Watch, 1959
Peppered patina spreads evenly across the matte silver-beige dial of this 1959 Omega Seamaster reference 14390-1. Gold-tone markers and long faceted dauphine hands sit within a polished 35 mm steel case. Hand-wound caliber 285 supplies central seconds, with the original Omega-signed crown and a black aftermarket leather strap with contrast stitching retained.
Peppered patina and gold dauphine hands
The matte dial carries a subtle peppered patina across its surface. Applied gold-tone hour markers sit within a printed minute track, with an applied Omega logo at 12 and Seamaster script at 6.
Long, faceted dauphine hour and minute hands have a gold tone and reflective surfaces. A central seconds hand sweeps across the dial, preserving a clear three-hand display.
Polished steel and screw-in caseback
The stainless steel case is polished, with straight, faceted lugs and a slim polished bezel. Its 35 mm diameter gives the head a restrained presence. A domed acrylic crystal adds depth over the dial.
The screw-in caseback reflects the Seamaster's original moisture-resistant construction. It does not establish the watch's present water resistance. The original Omega-signed crown is comfortably sized for daily hand winding.
The black leather strap is an aftermarket replacement in a period-appropriate style. Its contrast stitching adds a lighter border beside the patinated dial and polished steel head.
Omega 285 and late-1950s design
The manual-wind watch uses Swiss-made caliber 285 from Omega's 30 mm movement family. It has 17 jewels and a nominal beat rate of 18,000 vibrations per hour, with central seconds. Manual winding through the crown supplies the time display.
Omega watches in the Seamaster line answered post-war demand for practical everyday and dress watches. This watch from the late 1950s presents that combination through its screw-in steel construction, restrained dial and compact mechanical proportions.
The watch is used and in excellent vintage condition, with light case wear consistent with age. Its original watch head components, including the signed crown, are retained with the replacement leather strap. It is fully serviced and fully operational, with a 12-month warranty. Worldwide shipping is available.
