Atlantic Varldsmastarur, 1962
A blue hour ring, gold-tone Arabic numerals and a red central seconds hand distinguish this 1962 Atlantic Världsmästarur. The cream center is heavily speckled with age, and a numbered minute track runs around the outer edge. This men's hand-wound watch has a 21-jewel Swiss movement, stainless steel case and black woven pass-through strap.
Blue ring, red seconds and visible patina
The Atlantic and Världsmästarur scripts occupy the upper dial, with Incabloc and 21 Jewels below. Gold-tone Arabic numerals stand on the blue annulus, between a pale cream center and an outer track numbered in five-minute intervals. The blue paint has small areas of wear near some numerals.
The hour and minute hands have elongated gold-tone outlines and aged pale centers. A slim red seconds hand adds a third color across the center. Brown speckling is widespread on the dial, with darker discoloration near the outer scale; marks are also visible on the raised crystal.
Steel case and black woven strap
The case has a narrow polished rim, long curved lugs and a fairly slim side profile. Scratches remain across the steel surfaces. The back is engraved Stainless Steel, Swiss Made and Waterproof around an Atlantic globe-and-ribbon emblem with two stars.
Waterproof is a period inscription, with no current pressure-test rating established. A black woven strap passes beneath the case and uses silver-tone hardware. Its practical texture contrasts with the colorful dial, while the narrow bezel and clear numerals keep the watch closer to everyday dress watches than to specialized instruments.
21-jewel manual movement
The copper-toned movement has 21 Jewels and Swiss Made markings, exposed winding wheels and a visible balance with shock protection. Its construction is manually wound, with no automatic rotor. The exact caliber designation is unspecified.
The regular crown-winding routine and direct three-hand display are familiar features of hand-wound watches. Here they accompany a time-only dial without a calendar, with the red seconds hand supplying a clear running indication. The movement is fully serviced and the watch includes a 12-month warranty.
Världsmästarur and the Worldmaster identity
Världsmästarur is the Swedish Worldmaster name. Atlantic's history begins with Eduard Kummer in Lengnau in 1888, followed by pocket and wristwatch production and the Worldmaster name in the 1950s. This 1962 example has its own recognizable identity in the blue ring, gold numerals and contrasting red seconds hand.
Its multicolor dial, narrow steel bezel and shaped lugs illustrate the decorative side of early-1960s wristwatches.
