Marvin Black, Cal. M. 560, Men’s Manual Wind Vintage Watch, 1956

Sale price€220,00

Marvin Black from 1956 combines a factory-black dial with applied silver-tone markers and slim dauphine-style hands. The round 37 mm case gives the simple time-only design generous proportions for its period. Powered by Marvin’s M. 560 hand-wound movement, this watch retains its original watch components and is fitted with a new brown leather strap.

Factory-Black Dial with Applied Markers

Tapered silver-tone baton markers stand against the deep black surface, with a doubled marker at 12 o’clock and a fine outer minute track. The Marvin crown emblem and MARVIN name sit beneath 12, leaving the lower half of the dial open. The dark finish distinguishes this example from the pale silver and champagne dials often associated with 1950s dress watches.

The slim dauphine-style hour and minute hands have sharp, elongated forms that suit the applied markers. The minute hand reaches toward the outer track, while a fine central seconds hand adds movement to the otherwise restrained display. Light age-related wear remains visible on the hands and markers, without disturbing readability.

Round Case and New Brown Leather Strap

A narrow polished bezel and long tapered lugs define the silver-tone case. It measures 37 mm across and 43 mm lug to lug, with an 18 mm strap connection. The low-profile shape keeps the broad dial visually prominent. Light scratches and surface wear are visible, particularly along the bezel and lug edges. The exact case material is not confirmed.

The ridged crown at 3 o’clock provides a grip for regular manual winding and time setting. Its size remains proportionate to the slim case, and no clearly legible crown signature is visible.

The new brown leather strap has a lightly textured surface and an adjustable fit. Its warm color contrasts with the black dial and silver-tone case. It is a replacement accessory, described separately from the original watch components.

Marvin M. 560 and Serviced Condition

The in-house Marvin Cal. M. 560 is a Swiss manual-wind movement powering hours, minutes and central seconds. This straightforward configuration reflects Marvin’s background as a Swiss manufacturer of its own movements and keeps the dial free of a calendar or subsidiary register.

The watch is fully serviced and fully operational, with its original watch components retained. It is supplied with a 12-month warranty, without box or papers, and worldwide shipping is available. Water resistance should not be assumed without a separate test.
