Mortima Super Calendar (1965), manual wind Cal. Cattin C66. 43 × 43 mm, lug 18 mm. Black. Fully serviced, 12 months warranty.

Mortima Super Calendar 1965 — layered scales and oversized wrist presence

With a 43 mm case diameter and equally compact 43 mm lug-to-lug measurement, this Mortima has an unusually broad, almost square-on-the-wrist presence for its era. The round dial is surrounded by multiple information tracks, including a 24-hour scale, an inner tachymeter scale and an outer ring printed with international city names. The result is a visually dense but purposeful layout that gives the watch a strong mid-century tool-watch identity.

Black dial with 24-hour numerals and green hour plots

The black dial combines conventional hour markers with an inner 24-hour numeral track running from 13 through 24. Large circular and rectangular green luminous-style plots mark the principal hours, while white minute divisions provide additional structure around the perimeter. MORTIMA and 17 JEWELS are printed beneath 12 o’clock, and SUPER CALENDAR appears above 6. The layered typography remains highly legible despite the amount of information presented.

Arrow handset and red-framed calendar display

The broad hour hand has a prominent arrow form, paired with a long minute hand and a slender central seconds hand. Their pale inserts echo the green-toned hour plots. A small calendar aperture sits in the lower-right quadrant and uses red numerals inside a contrasting frame, giving the date immediate visual emphasis without occupying the conventional 3 o’clock position.

World-city bezel and tachymeter scale define the exterior

The case is surrounded by a black outer ring printed with city names including New York, Chicago, Hong Kong, Tokio, Sydney and others, creating a period travel-watch aesthetic. Inside it sits a clearly marked TACHYMETRE scale. These printed scales are presented as visible design and calculation features rather than as claims of an independently powered world-time complication. The exterior shows age-related wear and loss to portions of the printed bezel, consistent with regular vintage use.

Dual crowns and compact case geometry

Two ridged crowns are visible on the right side of the case, one near 2 o’clock and another near 4 o’clock. Their presence reinforces the instrument-like character of the design and provides separate external controls. The case has rounded shoulders and a broad polished profile, with visible surface wear appropriate to its age. The exact case material is not confirmed, so no stainless-steel claim is made.

Black and gray striped NATO-style strap

The watch is fitted with a black fabric NATO-style strap with twin gray stripes and metal keepers. Its utilitarian appearance suits the large case and multi-scale dial, while the 18 mm width keeps the strap visually controlled relative to the 43 mm watch head. The strap is adjustable and is not presented as an original period component.

Cattin C66 manual-wind movement with 17-jewel dial signature

The movement is confirmed as the Cattin C66, a manual-wind caliber associated with Cattin & Cie. The dial visibly states 17 JEWELS, allowing that specification to be included without inference. Hand winding gives the watch a direct mechanical ownership routine, while the calendar display adds everyday practicality. The watch is listed as serviced and fully operational. Similar pieces can be explored among our manual-wind vintage watches with distinctive mechanical layouts.

French 1960s tool-watch design with Super Calendar identity

Dated to 1965, this Mortima combines several visual ideas associated with adventurous mid-century sports watches: a large case, city-name bezel, 24-hour scale, tachymeter markings, oversized luminous-style indices and a prominent date display. The unusual combination gives the Super Calendar a character very different from a conventional dress watch. More examples from the maker can be found among our Mortima vintage watches with bold French mechanical styling.

Serviced originality and honest vintage condition

This Mortima is confirmed as serviced, fully operational and fitted with all original watch components. The dial remains highly legible, while the outer bezel, case and scale printing show visible age-related wear that is consistent with a watch of this period. The striped NATO-style strap is fitted for current wear and is not claimed as original. No box or papers are included, and the watch carries a 12-month warranty.
