Romont Glucydur Nivaflex, Cal. ETA 2472 Men’s Watch

A red date numeral and a finely lined outer chapter ring give this 1978 Romont Glucydur Nivaflex its distinctive silver-dial appearance. The 36 mm stainless steel watch has an automatic ETA 2472 movement, faceted dauphine hands and a replacement black leather strap. Its polished round case is restrained beside the more elaborate dial furniture.

Silver sunburst and triangular indexes

The silver dial has a clear radial finish and a finely lined outer ring interrupted by bright geometric hour markers. Long tapered indexes and triangular outer details catch the light, with a framed red-numeral date at 3. Romont, 25 Rubis Incabloc, Automatic, Glucydur and Nivaflex are printed on the face.

The polished dauphine hour and minute hands have sharply faceted surfaces, accompanied by a fine central seconds hand. The combination retains the clean formal legibility of dress watches while the red calendar numeral adds a small color accent. Light age traces remain visible on the dial surface.

Polished 36 mm steel case

The stainless steel case has a slim polished bezel and long shaped lugs. A small unsigned ridged crown sits at 3, with smooth time and date adjustment. Fine scratches and handling marks remain on the case and back.

The black leather strap is a replacement, stated separately from the original watch components. It keeps the presentation simple beside the reflective dial and case. The narrow rim, long lugs and geometric indexes give this example the restrained proportions of late-1970s wristwatches.

ETA 2472 and the Glucydur Nivaflex designation

The Swiss-made ETA 2472 is a 25-jewel automatic movement with a Glucydur balance, Nivaflex mainspring and Incabloc shock protection. Its open rotor is marked 25 Jewels and Swiss Made. Automatic watches use the moving rotor to supply the mainspring during wear; here it accompanies the central-seconds and date display.

The dial's Glucydur Nivaflex wording highlights the balance and spring materials specified for this movement. The caliber family belongs to the mechanical production of the 1960s and 1970s, while this watch is dated to 1978. It is fully serviced, fully operational and in excellent working order, with original watch components apart from the replacement strap and a 12-month warranty.
