Ruhla, Cal. UMF 24-42, Women’s Manual Wind Vintage Watch

Four small gold-tone circular markers and fine curved chapter lines give this 1989 Ruhla women’s watch a sparse, graphic dial. The white display sits within a polished silver-tone cushion case, with a gold-tone crown and a burgundy strap adding warmth. Its 35 mm case houses the UMF 24-42 hand-wound movement, a pin-lever design made without jewels.

The circular markers occupy the cardinal hour positions, surrounded by fine dark curved chapter lines. The Ruhla signature sits beneath 12, with ANTIMAGNETIC above 6 and MADE IN GDR at the lower edge.

Gold-tone hour and minute hands repeat the color of the markers. A slender central seconds hand completes the display. The restrained use of markers leaves much of the white surface open and emphasizes the curved printed lines.

Cushion Case and Burgundy Leather

The softly squared case surrounds a circular dial opening and narrow bezel. Short lugs give it a 40 mm lug-to-lug length, with an 18 mm strap connection. Light age-related wear remains on the polished silver-tone exterior, consistent with its very good vintage condition.

A pronounced ridged gold-tone crown sits at 3 o’clock, continuing the warm accents from the dial. The new burgundy leather strap has a crocodile-embossed texture, contrasting stitching and an adjustable fit. It is a replacement accessory, separate from the original watch components.

UMF 24-42 from VEB Uhrenwerke Ruhla

The UMF 24-42 is a pin-lever manual-wind movement without jewels, produced by VEB Uhrenwerke Ruhla. The MADE IN GDR dial inscription and 1989 production date place this example in the final years of East German manufacture.

The watch is fully serviced and fully operational, retaining its original watch components. A 12-month warranty is included, with no box or papers.
