This Seiko 5 watch from 1976, reference 6119-8083, has a matte black dial with luminous silver-tone rectangular furniture and a framed day-date window at 3. Its 37 mm steel case combines a brushed top and polished flanks. The 21-jewel automatic caliber 6119 remains with the original watch head, while a replacement textured black leather strap is fitted.

Rectangular markers and luminous hands

The black matte dial carries applied silver-tone rectangular hour markers with luminous material. SEIKO and the 5 shield appear at 12, while AUTOMATIC and 21 JEWELS sit above 6. The framed day-date aperture adds the calendar information at 3.

Silver-tone rectangular hour and minute hands have luminous centres, matching the shape and treatment of the markers. A slim central seconds hand has a lumed tip, a separate detail retained alongside the broader luminous sections of the main hands.

Brushed steel head and replacement strap

The stainless steel case is brushed across its top and polished along its flanks. A smooth, thin bezel frames the dial, and well-proportioned lugs give the head its defined outline. It measures 37 mm across and 44 mm from lug to lug.

The recessed crown is positioned at 4 and provides time and date adjustment. Its placement keeps the control close to the case profile, complementing the watch’s compact appearance.

A textured black leather strap is a replacement attachment, fitted to the retained original watch head. The dark leather follows the dial’s colour, while its replacement status remains a clear part of the watch’s condition.

In-house 6119 and preserved original head

The automatic watch is powered by Seiko’s in-house caliber 6119, a 21-jewel movement with day-date functionality. It brings the calendar into the main dial while retaining the three-hand time display.

The bold rectangular luminous furniture, matte black background and recessed crown give this mid-1970s dress watch its individual balance of legibility and restrained steel finishing.
