Seiko 5 6309-8840 Men's Automatic Watch

Deep navy blue and gold-tone dial furniture give this 1976 Seiko 5 a warm, distinct color contrast. Reference 6309-8840 combines an automatic caliber 6309 with a framed day-date display and a sculpted 36 mm steel case. A new brown-and-black leather strap adds visible stitching to the original watch head.

Navy sunburst dial with gilt details

The dark blue dial has a subtle sunburst finish, changing in tone as the light moves across it. Applied gold-tone baton markers and matching Seiko logo elements stand out against the navy surface. The day-date window at 3 o’clock has a gold-tone frame, connecting the calendar visually with the markers and hands.

Automatic is printed low on the dial, with a 21-jewel indication also retained. Gold-tone baton hour and minute hands follow the shape of the indexes, while a thin central seconds hand keeps the running display unobtrusive. The combination gives the darker dial clear points of contrast without filling its open center.

Sculpted steel case and domed crystal

The tonneau-like, cushion-influenced case gives this vintage Seiko watch a broader outline than its round dial opening. Brushed upper surfaces and polished edges define the changing planes, while the raised domed crystal softens the view at the perimeter.

Its stainless steel case measures 36 mm across and 41 mm from lug to lug. These dimensions describe both the central width and the space occupied by the projecting lugs. A solid steel screw-back closes the reverse.

The unsigned pull crown is positioned at 3 o’clock. Fine knurling gives its modest edge a gripping surface, while its scale keeps the side profile restrained.

New leather strap and serviced caliber 6309

The new leather strap combines brown and black, with contrasting stitches visible near the lugs. Those warmer tones complement the gilt dial details, and the stitching adds a different texture beside the brushed steel. The 19 mm lug width specifies the strap fit.
