Seiko 5, Ref. 7009-8620, Men’s Automatic Vintage Watch, 1981

A woven black dial and sculptural polished bezel distinguish this 1981 Seiko 5, reference 7009-8620. Its 36 mm stainless steel cushion case combines brushed upper surfaces with rounded polished channels. The Japanese 7009 automatic caliber supplies day-date functionality, and a new tan suede-style leather strap softens the dark dial and steel exterior.

Textured dial and MIE weekday

The black dial has a linen-like woven texture, with natural aging around the outer edge, especially toward the lower section. Seiko and the 5 shield sit below 12, with AUTOMATIC above 6. Applied silver-tone batons have luminous accents, supported by an outer minute track.

The day-date aperture at 3 o’clock shows the weekday indication MIE. Silver-tone baton hour and minute hands carry luminous central fill, while a slim central seconds hand completes the display.

Cushion case with polished channels

Brushed steel at 12 and 6 contrasts with the rounded bezel and its sculptural polished channels. This vintage Seiko watch measures 40 mm from lug to lug, with a 20 mm strap fit. Its caseback is marked Seiko, Water Resistant, Stainless Steel and 7009-8620. The Water Resistant inscription is a period marking, rather than a current water-resistance guarantee.

The original unsigned crown is tucked discreetly into the case side. A new adjustable tan leather strap has a suede-style surface and cream stitching near the lugs. It is a replacement accessory; the watch-head components are original.

7009 automatic and serviced condition
