Equal-sized baton markers and a dotted minute track frame the silver sunburst dial of this Seiko 66-8050 watch from 1968. Its cushion-shaped steel case combines brushed upper surfaces with polished sides, measuring 35 mm across and 42 mm from lug to lug. Manual-wind caliber 66 powers the nonluminous three-hand display, with a black grain-textured leather strap completing the watch.

Uniform markers, dotted track and dial signatures

The silver sunburst finish radiates across the dial, changing its appearance under light. Applied baton hour markers are all the same size, with a subtle dotted minute track around the outer edge. The uniform markers keep the visual weight even around the dial.

SEIKO is printed below 12, with 17 JEWELS and the Seiko S logo above 6. JAPAN 66 appears at the bottom of the dial. These modest inscriptions leave the surface texture and applied furniture prominent.

Cushion steel with contrasting finishes

The crown is at 3 and has fine knurling for grip. It appears original and provides both manual winding and time setting. Its modest proportions follow the case rather than creating a prominent projection at the side.

The black leather strap has a grain texture and is likely a replacement. Its textured surface accompanies the brushed steel and sunburst dial.

Manual caliber 66 and late-1960s dress design

The manual-wind watch uses Seiko caliber 66, a mechanical movement with model specifications of 17 jewels and 18,000 vibrations per hour. Its slim construction suited Seiko watches in the company’s dress-watch lineup during the 1960s, complementing the restrained display and cushion case of this example.
