Seiko Bell-Matic, Ref. 4006-6031, Cal. 4006, Men’s Dress Vintage Watch, 1972
A red marker on the inner alarm ring distinguishes this Seiko Bell-Matic watch from 1972, reference 4006-6031. Polished luminous furniture and a blued seconds hand sit against the silver sunburst dial. Automatic caliber 4006 combines timekeeping with a mechanical alarm inside a 39 mm steel cushion case, fitted with red perforated replacement leather and white stitching.
Silver sunburst and rotating alarm indication
The silver sunburst dial changes under moving light. Applied polished hour markers contain luminous inlays, accompanied by a printed minute track. The inner rotating alarm ring has a bold red marker, making the alarm indication distinct from the main hour furniture.
Polished stick hour and minute hands contain luminous material. A blued central seconds hand adds another colour against the silver surface. The light handset and coloured alarm marker keep the separate displays identifiable without obscuring the dial finish.
Cushion steel and two alarm controls
The stainless steel case measures 39 mm in diameter and 42 mm from lug to lug. Its brushed top contrasts with polished flanks, retaining the early-1970s cushion profile. The relatively short span contains the case’s broader outline.
The original signed crown at 3 works with the pusher at 2 to control the alarm. The two controls provide alarm setting independently of the timekeeping, a practical part of the Bell-Matic’s construction.
Red perforated leather replacing the steel bracelet
The red leather strap has perforations and contrasting white stitching. It is not original to the watch, which was originally supplied on a stainless steel bracelet. The leather’s colour accompanies the red alarm marker while its stitching and perforations remain visible details of the present attachment.
Japan-made automatic alarm caliber 4006
This automatic watch uses Seiko caliber 4006, produced entirely in Japan and combining timekeeping with a mechanical alarm and day-date display. Its model specification is 17 jewels. The mechanical alarm adds an audible function alongside the watch’s ordinary time and calendar readings.
The Bell-Matic line was introduced in 1966. This dress watch brings that alarm construction into a silver dial and cushion case, with the coloured indication integrated into the display.
This used watch retains its original watch-head components, with the replacement leather strap kept separate. It is fully serviced and fully operational, with a 12-month warranty included. Worldwide shipping is available with secure packaging.
