Seiko Pogue Pepsi, Ref. 6139-6002, Cal. 6139, Men’s Chronograph Vintage Watch, 1974
A red-and-blue Pepsi bezel frames the matte black dial of this Seiko Pogue watch from 1974, reference 6139-6002. Orange timing hands contrast with aged luminous markers and a grey inner minute track, with day-date at 3 and a 30-minute register at 6. Automatic caliber 6139 powers the 40 mm steel cushion case, fitted with its original folded-link Seiko bracelet.
Matte black, orange timing hands and retained patina
The matte black dial has applied rectangular hour markers with aged luminous plots. An inner grey minute track sits beside a white printed tachymeter scale on the rehaut. The 30-minute register at 6 and white-framed day-date at 3 keep the separate indications clear.
Original steel hour and minute hands have luminous inlays showing natural age alongside the markers. Both the central chronograph seconds hand and minute-register hand are vivid orange, distinguishing stopwatch readings from the main time display.
The dial and bezel retain their patina. Wear remains visible on the red-and-blue bezel insert, alongside the aging of the dial furniture and hands.
Cushion steel, crisp edges and folded-link bracelet
The stainless steel case measures 40 mm in diameter and 46 mm from lug to lug, with a 19 mm fitting. It retains its original brushed surfaces and crisp edges. The cushion outline provides a broad setting for the dial and the contrasting Pepsi tachymeter bezel.
The chronograph’s original recessed crown at 3 is partially integrated into the case. Its position follows the head’s streamlined profile beside the chronograph controls.
The original Seiko stainless steel bracelet has folded links and an original-equipment clasp. The metal attachment completes the watch’s original configuration.
Early automatic chronograph construction and Pogue context
This automatic watch uses Seiko caliber 6139, introduced in 1969 among the early self-winding chronograph movements. Its column wheel and vertical clutch control chronograph engagement. Model specifications include 21,600 vibrations per hour and an approximately 45-hour power reserve.
The Pogue name comes from Colonel William Pogue’s use of a Seiko 6139 during the 1973 Skylab 4 mission. This model context helps explain the name, while the particular watch’s black dial, orange timing hands and Pepsi bezel identify its own configuration.
This used example is in excellent working order, retaining all original components and its visible age. It is fully serviced and fully operational, with a 12-month warranty included. Worldwide shipping is available with secure packaging and insurance.
