Deep-blue subsidiary dials at 6 and 12 contrast with the matte silver-white face of this Seiko Panda watch from 1977, reference 6138-8020. Black luminous hands and a red-tipped central timing hand sit beneath domed Hardlex. Matte silver-white, deep-blue counters and tachymeter

The matte silver-white dial has two deep-blue subsidiary registers at 6 and 12, forming the contrasting Panda layout. Baton hour markers contain luminous material, and a blue tachymeter scale follows the periphery. The scale provides a speed-calculation reference alongside the timing display.

Polished black baton-style hour and minute hands have white luminous inserts. A black central chronograph seconds hand carries a vivid red tip, while white subsidiary hands contrast with the blue counters. Each colour serves a separate part of the display, keeping the main time hands and timing indications distinct.

Brushed steel, polished flanks and domed Hardlex

The stainless steel case measures 40 mm in diameter and 46 mm from lug to lug, with a 19 mm fitting. Brushed surfaces meet polished flanks, with sturdy lugs framing the attachment. The domed Hardlex crystal gives the dial a raised profile.

The original unsigned crown sits between the chronograph pushers and operates smoothly for time setting. The pushers control start, stop and reset with a positive mechanical click.

Original solid H-link steel bracelet

The original Seiko stainless steel H-link bracelet retains solid links. A folding clasp engraved with the Seiko logo completes the attachment, preserving the watch’s original metal configuration. The substantial links continue the case’s sports-watch character around the wrist.

Integrated automatic 6138 with manual winding

This automatic watch uses Seiko caliber 6138, a fully integrated chronograph with a model specification of 21 jewels. Its column wheel and vertical clutch control the chronograph, and both automatic and manual winding are available. Manual winding gives the option of winding the watch independently of wrist movement.

The caliber was introduced in the early 1970s. Its winding options and chronograph construction are useful technical distinctions alongside this example’s contrasting two-register dial.
