Seiko / GSX012 R.P.D. Biohazard S.T.A.R.S., Ref. 5M45-5A00

Numbered 303 of 1,999, this 1999 GSX012 R.P.D. Biohazard S.T.A.R.S. edition combines a game-themed dial and caseback with Seiko’s 5M45 Kinetic technology. The dark PVD-coated stainless steel case has a square profile and a date display. Its original Seiko bracelet is included, with a new brown leather strap currently fitted.

Biohazard identity and numbered caseback

The GSX WATCH JAPAN Biohazard collaboration was released for the franchise’s third-anniversary period. Biohazard is known internationally as Resident Evil. This edition connects vintage Seiko watches with video-game memorabilia through its R.P.D. dial and S.T.A.R.S. Raccoon Police Department engraving.

The back carries Seiko, reference 5M45-5A00, GSX012 and the edition marking 303/1999 alongside that engraving.

Black dial and square coated case

Applied bright white indices and a central circular motif stand out against the black dial. R.P.D. appears in the upper area, with Seiko Kinetic text and a date window at 3 o’clock. Bright main hour and minute hands match the indices, while a gold-tone skeleton-style hand adds another visual layer. The central seconds hand also serves the power-reserve display.

The square crystal is framed like a display panel within broad shoulders and angled case sides. The stainless steel case has a dark PVD coating and polished surfaces. Its approximately 36 mm width, 43 mm lug span and 18 mm strap fit describe a compact but broad square outline. Light handling wear remains visible on the coated case and original bracelet; the dial is clear and legible.

Kinetic energy and power-reserve indication

The Japanese Seiko 5M45 is a Kinetic quartz analog movement. Wrist movement generates energy for an internal rechargeable storage unit; it is not a mechanical automatic. The right-side pusher activates an indication of approximate stored energy through the seconds hand. A crown alongside it handles setting, and the movement also supplies the date display.

Original bracelet and fitted leather

The original Seiko bracelet preserves the option of the watch’s original configuration. The new adjustable brown leather strap has visible grain and gives the dark exterior a warmer contrast. The watch head and included bracelet are original; the fitted leather strap is a replacement. This example has been fully serviced and is fully operational. Box and papers are not included.
