Stowa Durowe, Cal. D450-2

The no-lume silver sunburst dial gives this Stowa Durowe watch from 1969 a clear, monochrome appearance. Printed baton markers and broader black quarter-hour blocks surround a framed date at 3 o’clock, beneath a domed acrylic crystal. Hand-wound D450-2 sits inside the 35 mm steel case, with an original unsigned crown and a modern black leather replacement strap.

Silver sunburst, black markers and no luminous material

The finely brushed silver dial has a gently domed surface that changes under moving light. Slim printed batons alternate with broader rectangular black blocks at the cardinal positions, giving the display orientation without adding luminous material. The date at 3 has a metallic-silver frame, white wheel and black numerals.

Stowa and the marque emblem appear below 12, with 17 Rubis Antichoc above 6. Both signatures remain sharply printed. Long polished baton hour and minute hands have fine facets, with the minute hand reaching the outer markers and a slender central seconds hand extending toward the minute divisions.

Thin steel bezel, acrylic crystal and original unsigned crown

The round stainless steel case measures 35 mm in diameter, 43 mm from lug to lug and 18 mm between the lugs. A thin polished bezel opens the dial visually. Straight, lightly tapered lugs and crisp transitions between polished case planes retain the restrained outline of this late-1960s watch.

The domed acrylic crystal introduces distortion at the dial edge. A snap-on back with multiple pry notches closes flush. At 3, the coin-edged crown is unsigned and original, with its size and grip suited to manual winding.

Modern black leather replacement

The fitted black leather strap has subtle grain and tone-on-tone stitching. It is a modern replacement, providing a neutral frame for the silver dial while remaining separate from the original watch-head components. The original dial, hands, case, crown and movement are retained.

German-made D450-2 and service

This manually wound watch uses Durowe D450-2, a movement from Deutsche Uhren-Rohwerke in Pforzheim, Germany. It supplies central seconds and the date, with shock protection and 17 jewels. Its model beat rate is 18,000 vph, approximately 2.5 Hz.

The watch is fully serviced and fully operational. Light aging is visible under magnification, consistent with wear and preservation. A 12-month warranty is included.
