Tourist Automatic ETA 2784

Among watches made in 1974, this Tourist Automatic combines a silver sunburst dial with green-centered markers and a bright seconds hand. A polished steel cushion case and domed acrylic crystal frame the display. Swiss ETA caliber 2784 has 25 jewels and a quick-set date, with a modern dark blue leather strap fitted for wear.

Silver sunburst with colored details

Rectangular hour markers have metallic borders around green centers. Tourist branding and AUTOMATIC occupy the upper dial, with 25 JEWELS INCABLOC at 6 and a slim minute track along the inner edge. A framed date window sits at 3.

Broad steel-tone baton hour and minute hands have lighter central sections that originally housed luminous material. The slim seconds hand has a bright contrasting color. The dial shows even age, while the colored centers and printing remain crisp and legible.

Cushion steel and a domed crystal

The polished steel case has rounded corners, soft flanks and curved lugs. It measures 35 mm across and 40 mm from lug to lug, with an 18 mm strap fitting. Its domed acrylic crystal softens reflections above the sunburst dial.

The original unsigned crown is polished, deeply coin-edge knurled and slightly recessed. The back carries Antimagnetic, Automatic, Waterproof, Incabloc and Swiss Made inscriptions, preserving the period labeling of this example among Swiss vintage watches. Waterproof is an original marking, not a present assurance of water resistance.

The modern replacement strap is dark blue matte leather with visible grain, light stitching near the lugs and a tang buckle. Light surface marks remain on the case, which retains its original contours.

25-jewel ETA 2784

The ETA 2784 runs at 28,800 bph, or 4 Hz, with Incabloc shock protection, central seconds and a crown-operated quick-set date. It offers automatic and manual winding. The rotor supplies the self-winding operation shared by automatic vintage watches.
