Universal Geneve, Cal. 1106, Men’s, 1966

Fine speckling and a warm tropical tone distinguish the beige dial of this 1966 Universal Genève. Arabic quarter-hour numerals and an uninterrupted time-only layout preserve its symmetry. The 33 mm stainless steel watch retains its original U-signed crown and uses the 17-jewel hand-wound caliber 1106, with a new black leather strap fitted.

Tropical patina and a symmetrical display

The dial has developed warm tonal aging with fine speckling across its surface. The Universal Genève logo and signature sit below 12, with Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9 and applied baton markers between them. A fine outer minute track frames the display; there is no date aperture.

Silver-tone hour and minute hands and a slim central seconds hand have a gentle aged tone that works with the dial and numerals. The patina remains clearly visible, rather than being described as cosmetic perfection.

Steel case and original signed crown

A polished bezel contrasts with brushed upper lug surfaces. The slightly angular lugs bring the case to 41 mm lug to lug, with a 17 mm strap fit. Light signs of age remain on the steel exterior. Caseback and inner-back markings include Universal Genève, Acier Inoxydable and Swiss.

The original silver-tone fluted crown bears the Universal Genève U logo. A new black croco-style leather strap with a light underside adds contrast to the warm dial. It is adjustable and is a replacement accessory, separate from the original watch-head components.

Caliber 1106 and serviced condition

The Swiss manual-wind caliber 1106 carries Universal Genève, Swiss and Unadjusted markings and uses 17 jewels. Its bridge layout includes visible ruby jewels and gold-tone wheels.
