UMF Ruhla, Cal. UMF 2, Men’s Manual Wind Vintage Watch, 1962

This 1962 UMF Ruhla pairs a silver dial and small seconds with a compact gold-plated case. Shaped quarter-hour markers distinguish its slender index layout, while dial patina and thinning plating remain visible. The 33 mm men’s watch uses the UMF 2 hand-wound movement and is fitted with a new dark crocodile-embossed leather strap.

Silver Dial with Subsidiary Seconds

Long gold-tone baton markers surround the dial, with differently shaped markers at the quarter hours and a dotted minute track. The boxed UMF RUHLA emblem and 15 RUBIS inscription sit below 12. Spotting and patina remain visible across the silver surface.

Gold-tone hour and minute hands follow the warm applied markers. A small-seconds register at 6 o’clock has fine printed divisions, with ANTIMAGNETIC arcing above it. The separate seconds display leaves the central dial uncluttered.

Gold-Plated Case and Visible Wear

The round case has a narrow polished bezel and projecting lugs. Its 33 mm diameter and 40 mm lug-to-lug length create a compact footprint, with 17 mm between the lugs.

The plating has thinned, particularly around the lugs and outer edges. These areas of wear are part of its good vintage condition. A large, deeply ridged crown at 3 o’clock has a warm gold tone and no clearly legible signature.

UMF 2 and East German Production

The UMF 2 is a 15-jewel manual-wind movement. This UMF Ruhla was made in East Germany.

New Leather Strap and Serviced Condition

The new dark leather strap has a crocodile-embossed surface and an adjustable fit. Its 17 mm width follows the lugs, while the textured finish contrasts with the small polished bezel. It is a replacement accessory.

The watch retains its original watch components and is fully serviced and fully operational. It is supplied with a 12-month warranty and no box or papers.
